Ron Paul on Bill Maher show Friday
U.S. Rep. Ron Paul was on Bill Maher's show Friday and once again, he demonstrated his knowledge on the Middle East as well as domestic politics.
Two comments by Bill Maher stand out:
"If America was a smarter country, wouldn't you be leading in the polls?"
"You are the most conservative member of Congress."
Maher is right on both counts. That a man like Paul is not leading in the polls is an indictment of the shallowness of the American electorate. The American people will simply not elect someone who does not have star quality and $100 million. It's all about name recognition. And it doesn't even have to be good publicity, just any publicity. Bill Clinton won because of accusations during his first campaign of infidelity. All the American voters remember is his name, not why they remember the name.
And it is true that Paul, an opponent of President Bush's illegal, unjust and immoral war in Iraq, is the most conservative member of the Congress. He is the only one true to the conservative values of limited government, fiscal responsibility and advancing the cause of liberty.
I don't understand how anyone would not want to vote for Ron Paul for president.
