Happy Columbus Day

This Portrait was made by the Florentine painter Ridolfo Ghirlandaio (1483-1561).

Today we celebrate one of the greatest men of the last millenium. Despite modern-day revisionists who would have us revile this great Italian explorer, Cristoforo Colombo's accompllishments cannot be praised enough. His 1492 voyage changed forever the course of human history, even if he weren't the first European to reach the New World.
