It's pure lunacy not to drill in ANWR

Spoke to U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan Monday and, as usual, agreed with some of what he said, disagree with some.

Jordan just returned Sunday from the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and confirmed what everyone else who actually goes there has told me: The refuge is a barren wasteland and he did not see a single animal on the refuge proper. However, as others have told me, he said he saw plenty of animals around the Prudhoe Bay and North Slope areas, hanging around the oil machinery there. People who have gone there in the winter have told me the animals actually curl up against the machinery to keep warm.

Does not sound like we are having much of an environmental impact in the area.

He did share a couple of great numbers. The refuge is 19 million acres and the footprint needed to extract that oil would only be 2,000 acres. That is the equivalent of a postage stamp on a football field.

Are you telling me we can't build on 2,000 acres in an area of 19 million acres to get at the 10 billion or more barrels of oil just sitting there?

That is pure lunacy.

Let's get drilling.

and sell it to Japan? How does that help "we the people"?
And of course big oil has done such a fine job of cleaning up thier messes.

Libscums will never permit this. They are heavily obligated to environmentalists and trial lawyers which have the 68 million acres currently leased tied up in litigation.

Libscums want the U S Economy destroyed - it will cement their lust for power if a majority of the American people are beholden to the government for their sustinance.

Libscums advanced the same arguments when the debate over opening the North Slope was going on. It was a bogus lying smoke screen as it is now.

What is truly luinancy is to permit treasonous scum like Al Gore to continue to spew disputed and eronious "facts" for the pure self-agrandizement and financial success of his own interests.

America is the most innovative nation to ever exist on Earth. It is lunacy that big business, labor unions and special interests pressure our politicians to shut out innovation because of the risk involved in change. Instead of drilling for oil and spending billions of dollars in infrastructure why not work to develop alternative forms of energy? Government, business, labor, science and every innovative American can be involved!

I would put money on the table to bet that by the time we drill in ANWR (even if legislation were passed today) we will be using an alternative fuel for a majority of our vehicles.

You could very well be correct.

However, when Chimpy cancelled the Executive Ban on drilling, world oil markets fell $ 10.00 per barrel. Just the thought of the USA considering the recovery of their own assets sends shivers through the halls of OPEC and Futures Speculators.

As much as I dislike him, it took guts foer Chimpy to cancel his Fathers ban.

Now it is Congresses turn to step up for the American People.

How can we drill when the main (Socialist ) in the congress refuses to allow it to come up for a vote. Anyone ever hear of anti-American, anti-business; She should be removed from speaker of the house. She evidently hates America and free enterprize.

I like Jim Jordan. We need more fresh, down-to-Earth people like him in those seats.

AverageGuy, I liked Jim Jordan at one time to until I really started to look at his voting record. He really is assisting in helping to destroy this country. He will not receive my vote next term.

I am glad that so many people have the money for high gas prices. We need to dig somewhere. And ANWR is as good as any place. Also, if you all want to support the Terriorst over there in the Middle East. Go on and buy their Gas. I sure don't support them. We need to drill.
