Democrats take Senate

Democrats now have 51 Senate seats meaning they now control the Senate. They need nine more, however, for a filibuster-proof majority. Eighteen more seats are up for grabs and the GOP holds 31.

In the House race, the Dems are leading 60 to 38 with 337 seats still in play.

There have been no surprises in any congressional races so far.
