IN THIS CARTOON, ONLY ONE "MONKEY" WAS SINGLED OUT. THE PROOF IS IN THE PUDDING.

Do you see that? WRITE.
That means AUTHER, pen to paper as it were. Obama did not write a single word of that bill..AND HE DID NOT EVEN READ IT BE HE SIGNED IT. So yes, if it fails, which it will because these things have never worked, he will get the blame. And rightly so.

Get real, if the cartoonist wanted to imply that "the messiah" was the one getting shot, he would have depicted him as the cartoon character"curious george. The resemblence is amazing.

You are kidding, right? White privilege? Where is that white privilege? I certainly am not seeing it.

This has nothing to do with white privilege nor does it have to do with race. Obama is a chimp. So are most of the members of the House and the Senate as well as five of the Supreme Court justices. That is not a racial comment, it is a political comment. America would be better off if a chimp had written the stimulus bill.

As for equality, I find that those who think they are not being treated fairly in life are the very ones being treated equally. Life is hard and it sucks. That is equality. Stop blaming your woes on race and start looking for the real causes. Jim Crow died a lont time ago.

The NAACP is nothing but an organization of professional racists. They extort monies by using the victim status, and the poor blacks certainly don't benefit. I'm glad you found your sense of humor, KADIM. Since you are so intelligent, you also know that an ape, in some form, has been used depicting George Bush thousands of times. Animals have always been a part of political cartoons. I guess Obama is the exception, since he is the anointed one. But, I don't think the chimp in the cartoon is directed at Obama, but at Pelosi, who drafted the monster. She has a lot in common with the chimp who mauled the woman. Wednesday's Page Six cartoon - caricaturing Monday's police shooting of a chimpanzee in Connecticut - has created considerable controversy.

It shows two police officers standing over the chimp's body: "They'll have to find someone else to write the next stimulus bill," one officer says.

It was meant to mock an ineptly written federal stimulus bill.

Period.

But it has been taken as something else - as a depiction of President Obama, as a thinly veiled expression of racism.

This most certainly was not its intent; to those who were offended by the image, we apologize.

However, there are some in the media and in public life who have had differences with The Post in the past - and they see the incident as an opportunity for payback.

To them, no apology is due.

Sometimes a cartoon is just a cartoon - even as the opportunists seek to make it something else.

"It's Eric Holder and his fellow travelers who are the cowards

« PreviousIn a speech he gave for Black History Month, Attorney General Eric Holder called America a nation of cowards when it comes to discussing racial matters in a frank manner. In light of the fact that many white voters were instrumental in helping to elect the nation's first African-American president, I can't think of a more incongruous speech nor a more inopportune time for making such comments, ironically, coming out of the mouth of the nation's first African-American Attorney General.

Instead of celebrating the election of Barack Obama as a historical milestone in the nation's history, Holder characterizes his ascension to the presidency as dealing, "with the reality of electing an African American as our President for the first time." An odd choice of words. Could he not have simply acknowledged the significance of this achievement to the effect that discrimination against blacks has been markedly reduced?

Probably not, and here's why: Holder is a member of that liberal constituency group that I would characterize as "the perpetually aggrieved." No matter the extent of the progress America has made in eradicating the past sins of racism or discrimination, any such efforts will always be deemed incomplete, demonstrating the need for further erosion of our liberties to satisfy their undefined standards of perfection. For those like Holder, discrimination that occurred in the past will always be sufficient justification for remedial action to be administered by the heavy hand of government in the present and eternally into the future. Exactly what conditions would satisfy Holder to the effect that we are no longer a racist country? He doesn't say.

Many of those who share Holder's sentiments were part of the lynch mob who were perfectly happy to find the members of the Duke Lacrosse Team guilty before any of the facts were known simply by virtue of their skin color and because the alleged circumstances of the case conveniently fit their preferred template of America as a racist country. Speaking of "cowardly", did Holder speak out against the despicable treatment meted out to the innocent members of the Lacrosse team by the media and Duke University as aiders and abettors of a racially-motivated monstrous hoax? Did he condemn prominent African-American leaders who all too eagerly jumped on the bandwagon?

If he wants frank discussions about race then he should be prepared to defend the continued practice of quota hiring system and a racial spoils system. Is Holder, like the Democratic Party, inextricably tied to the practice of identity politics? One could make the plausible argument that Barack Obama were he white would have been laughed off the stage if he tried to run for president based on his razor thin resume and scant qualifications as a "community organizer."

Obama enjoyed unparalleled advantages by virtue of his skin color, as have all beneficiaries of affirmative-action/quota hiring policies. Perhaps Holder can explain to us exactly how was Obama's race a hindrance to his running for president?

Holder addresses the issue of affirmative action by stating:

There can, for instance, be very legitimate debate about the question of affirmative action. This debate can, and should, be nuanced, principled and spirited. But the conversation that we now engage in as a nation on this and other racial subjects is too often simplistic and left to those on the extremes who are not hesitant to use these issues to advance nothing more than their own, narrow self interest.
Thus, Holder acknowledges that legitimacy of debating the need for affirmative action, but, in the same breath paints those who oppose it as belonging on the "extremes" and are interested in using it to advance their self-interest. Sounds like a cowardly way to have a frank discussion about race if you're going to stigmatize those who oppose reverse discrimination as racist.

Holder may call for a "frank" discussion on race, but as long as he and his fellow travellers in the media continue to invoke the race card, which Obama wielded so skillfully in the past election, no one will oblige him in his plea for candor when latent charges of "racism" will always act as to preclude an intellectually honest and enlightening debate. In terms of defining the permissible contours of debate on many issues of race, as long as there exists one standard for whites and a completely different one for blacks, any ensuing discussion will be nothing more than an exercise in futility.

I'm so fucking sick of mainstream media and black elites trying to frame the debate for us, rather than letting US frame the debate as citizens. The mainstream media people in CNN or MSNBC are NOT the average America. They do not represent what regular, clearheaded Americans like me think. The media can suck it. I'm tired of the race-baiting and overreacting on racial issues. I'm tired of all this crap about how we have a "racial divide", when clearly we don't. Or this "post-racial" America nonsense. Look, who cares if we're a post-racial America or not? We're already come far enough in the race issue, I think. Any attempts to go further will be met with failure. We're colorblind enough. You should be glad 53% of Americans voted for a black guy. That seems pretty post-racial to me.

Remember all the uproar over Don Imus? He calls the Rutgers basketball team "nappy-headed hos", something which is so obviously protected under the First Amendment, and yet all the black race-baiters and liberal elites wanted to punish him for speaking his mind. Isn't free speech supposed to protect unpopular speech?? Isn't that the whole point? I'm so sick of all this apologize nonsense. Adults aren't supposed to tell other adults to APOLOGIZE. Apologies come from the heart, not orders. And besides, what good is an apology from NY Post gonna do? Who cares if they apologize or not? It's not gonna 'fix' anything.

You know, sometimes a cartoon REALLY IS just a cartoon. You guys should be glad that NY Post even offered an apology, instead of continuing to bitch and complain that it's a "conditional" apology. I do truly believe that all blacks are really mad at God for making them black, that blacks set at home and cry "Why God, why did you make me black, I wish I was born a white person" if this were not true, then why does everything the blacks say or do always revolve around race, nothing can ever be spoken without blacks eventually bringing in race, the whites don't do this, we are satisfied with how God made us, we don't scream race at every opportunity. NEW YORK (CNN) -- Leaders of the NAACP on Saturday called for the firing of the New York Post cartoonist whose drawing lampooning the federal stimulus bill has drawn charges that it's racist and encourages violence toward President Obama.

Speaking at the civil rights group's annual meeting in New York, NAACP President Benjamin Todd Jealous said that if Sean Delonas is not fired, the group will call for protests of the paper and Fox television affiliates, which are owned by Post parent company News Corp.

"There is consensus that if the Post does not ... get rid of the journalists who are responsible for this bit of hate speech seeing the light of day, that we will move this from a local, regional issue to a very national issue," Jealous said.

The group also called for the cartoonist's editor to be fired.

Many critics said the cartoon played on historically racist images by appearing to compare Obama, the nation's first black president, to a chimpanzee that had been shot by police officers.

The cartoon references the mauling of a Connecticut woman by a chimpanzee who was later shot and killed by police.

In its caption, one of the officers says, "They'll have to find someone else to write the next stimulus bill."

Obama had signed the bill the day before the cartoon ran.

On its Web site Thursday, the paper offered a qualified apology, saying it was "most certainly not our intent" to express racism, but also accusing some of jumping at a chance to attack a paper they already disliked. Watch reaction to the Post's apology »

"To them, no apology is due," the paper wrote. "Sometimes a cartoon is just a cartoon -- even if the opportunists seek to make it something else."

But NAACP Chairman Julian Bond said that explanation rings hollow.

"This is tastelessness taken to the extreme," he said. "For the publication to suggest the only people who object to it are constant critics of the New York Post is beyond ridiculous.

"This was an invitation to assassination of the president of the United States and anyone who was not offended by it doesn't have any sensibilities."

It's time to fire the NAACP director and his quarter-million-dollar salary.

The NAACP knows the cartoon wasn't racist, but it serves a purpose to pretend to be offended. If they are too stupid to know how to interpret a cartoon, perhaps they should stay away from the editorial pages.

When I would pour soda into glasses when my kids were small, they would each reach for the tallest glass, even though the short glass was wider, and held more. The one who got the short, wide glass would whine it wasn't fair. My children eventually learned that all the glasses of soda were equal. The NAACP and other black activists get the short, wide glass. Perhaps if we gave them the tall glass, they would shut up? Or demand both glasses?

Of course they would demand both cups. The NAACP is not out for equal opportunity. It is out to gain as much power as possible.

When I first saw the cartoon, I took it for what I believe it was meant to be: a comment on how ridiculous the stimulus bill was, using a current events story as the vehicle. You have to have black people=monkey linked up in your brain already to make a racist connection in this cartoon. I understand that black people have been called apes by racists for a long time, so I can see how some people saw it that way. I didn't. But in the long run, who cares? I'm just not that easily outraged, I guess. How many of you subscribe to the NY Post anyway?

The claim that this was a call to assainate Obama is moronic lunacy. Thats is a desperate cry. I think we can be sure there are groups and individules already wishing, and /or planning such a thing. But that has been true since the very start of humanity. Someone somewhere is always thinking about killing the leader...

There will always be racists, so long as there are humans. One group of people builds their lives around hating another group, for various reasons. Most of us have better things to do, like build up relations with everyone, rather than tear down. Does anyone really think that if the KKK or Neo Nazis strolled into town, they would get a pass from the white folks? Hell,no! We would be standing alongside every Jew and black person in Lima to run them off.

Arrest Made in Home Foreclosure Civil Disobedience Program

Print ShareThisPolice in Baltimore today made what is believed to be the first arrest in a civil disobedience program aimed at supporting homeowners who refuse to vacate their foreclosed homes.

An activist with ACORN — the Association of Community Organization for Reform Now — faces criminal charges after breaking into a home in southeast Baltimore on Thursday to protest the foreclosure crisis sweeping the country.

"This is our house now," ACORN member Louis Beverly reportedly said after cutting a lock with bolt cutters at the home.

Beverly will be charged with fourth-degree burglary, according to Anthony Guglielmi, a spokesman for the Baltimore Police. Attempts to reach his attorney, Justin Brown, were not immediately successful.

Donna Hanks, who owned the home since 2001, lost it in September when she couldn't make her $1,995 mortgage payments. It was not immediately clear whether Hanks re-entered her home last week, but she was not expected to be arrested, Guglielmi said.

Other police departments contacted by FOXNews.com said arrests would be made if an individual is determined to be residing at a foreclosed home illegally...

Thought you might be interested in some REAL information related to this foreclosure; Donna Hanks initially purchased her home (315 South Ellwood, Baltimore, MD 21224) on 7/06/2001 for $87,000. At some date between 2001 and 2006 she re-financed the original mortgage for the amount of $270,000 with a mortgage payment of $1,662.00. The FIRST foreclosure on this home was filed 5/31/2006. Donna Hanks filed for bankruptcy 6/16/06 during which a payment plan was approved for the $10,500 she was behind in her payments. This action stopped the original foreclosure. When she did not meet the terms of the bankruptcy re-payment, a second foreclosure action was started in January 2008. At the time she had not made her mortgage payments since September 2007. It should be noted that her salary per the bankruptcy paperwork was $1625 per month and she was working a 2nd and 3rd job (supposedly giving her an additional $1,275 in monthly income - the employers were not listed). Over extended? Also, during 2007 she was renting our her basement illegally (she was taken to court) and receiving rent while she was not making her mortgage payments. The mortgage company "raised" her payment $300 a month - right? Well, not exactly it was $340. The amount that she had agreed to pay back in arrears. Not exactly truthful, but what I would expect from a person with her criminal record (theft and assault 2nd degree and possession of a dangerous weapon with intent to injure). Oh and there is the small matter of breaking and entering. The house at 315 South Ellwood had already been sold at auction on 6/26/08 for $192,000. It just took them until September 2008 to get her out. Nothing like public information - it seems Acorn could have found this same information before they helped this "poor" victimized woman...

Ithink you need to put this cartoon in context of recent events. A monkey went crazy and attacked a woman. This stimulas bill that was just passed is just as crazy, amoung some of us that don't agree that it is the best thing to do. The people who wrote this stimulas bill, which was not Obama, are the ones that I think the writer of this cartoon was making fun of. I think you really need to take a minute, step back and see it for what it is. I am white and when I first seen the cartoon, connecting it to Obama was the last thing I was thinking. Since you are so sure that this cartoon was racist. Then what was it every time George Bush was depicted as or compared to a chimp? Don't give me some big long all-caps diatribe that really doesn't answer the question. Just tell me why it was ok to do it to Bush and when they do it to Obama, suddenly it's racist and wrong.

Not only is Hodges a racist, he is simply ignorant. I suspect he is just baiting people because it is hard to believe any human would think as he does.

I agree, Tom. He did not address any of the issues, but focused on his perceived racism aspect. By his own admission, he has had a great life. So, where's the beef?

This cartoon shouldn't have been printed in the Post -- it's racially insensitive at best and bluntly racist at worst. Even if it wasn't the cartoonist's intent, it should have been caught by someone in editorial that it carried some ugly connotations. If a 6-year-old kid hears the term "porch monkey" out of context and decides to start using it for his own reasons, it's an adult's responsiblity to tell him to knock it off and let him know the problems. You don't just let the kid run around saying it and excuse him because "oh, that's not what he means." You know?
