The United States said Monday it would donate 50,000 dollars in emergency aid to Italy after a powerful earthquake killed at least 100 people.

The thing to remember here is GOD (Allah; if you must) creates. GOD does not destroy. Only man does that. GOD is the giver of life and to take any life in the name of Allah (or GOD) is a perversion and an abomination. GOD did not create any group of human beings to dominate another by virtue of gender, ethnicity or any other such contrived boundary.
If God wanted women to wear scarves, they would have been born with them. If God wanted women to be clothed from head to foot, they would not have been born naked.
If God had wanted women to be genitally mutilated, they would not have been born with genitals. The practice of excising (surgically removing the female genitalia so they cannot experience sexual pleasure) is an abomination so extreme it defies logic.

We don't (at least not with Gods blessing) remove or butcher body parts that we as men (for lack of a better word) deem offensive. God put them there for a reason; not for us to butcher women at our discretion. Look up the practice of excising; it is butchery, done without the aid of anesthesia or anything that could resemble a surgical procedure. We no longer live in the "Dark Ages"; that is unless we happen to be Muslim and practicing the Islamic faith.
What is most disconcerting to me is the position that all Muslims don't agree with the radical fundamentalism practiced by the Taliban and other sects. If that is clearly the case, then why don't Muslims en masse stand up and denounce the bastardization of their Islamic faith? Why don't they take a stand against these radical factions? Perhaps in part at least is because they do have a common denominator; the conversion of the world to Islam as ordered in the Quran. The only thing perhaps separating them is the chosen method to achieve their goal.

Equality certainly was a founding principle, but the definition has been so distorted that it doesn't even resemble what the founders were talking about. Equality means that everyone chooses their own destiny. Fortune or failure is up to you. It does NOT mean that everyone should be entitled to their piece of the pie (ie, health care, minimum wage, social security, welfare, etc.). It means that you are given the freedom to fail on your own. See, the Declaration states that our rights are given to us by our Creator, not our government, and that governments are set up to serve the people, not control or enslave them.

Bob, I'm afraid we got off on the wrong foot. I apologize if my post came off even 1/100th as offensive as yours did. You make some decent points, so let's keep the debate civilized, ok? That said, just one more point:

The Declaration and the Constitution were written in language plain enough that nearly everyone can understand it. That was done purposefully, and used to be the way of things. Now they use 4000 pages of legalese to state the simplest of things. This is also done purposefully- to confuse us and to convince us that we're not intelligent enough to understand. I've read the constitution myself and understand it well. No fancy-pants Harvard law professor is going to convince me that it says something it doesn't. I used to think that scholars and politicians knew better than me, but of late they've too often been exposed as dunderheads with either a complete lack of understanding or complete contempt for the basic framework of our government.

i completely apologize for my rather harsh remarks, im sorry for blowing my top. i made a mistake. i was as stressed as is appropriate for a kid my age, and granted its not much at all compared to you older people, i still do have my fair share. umm, on the long legal texts today, thats pretty much created in order to over stress the common mind, and hopefully prevent people from noticing some loopholes put into place on purpose for the benefit of select groups. also, laws have become much more complicated over the past 250 years because so many of them have been passed, i mean, its not as easy as it used to be because of the fact that a given law may come into clash with a number of other laws unless modified in a specific way. and the constitution does give the power to the governing bodies to modify it so i mean, that does make it flexible. and again, i apologize for my childish behavior. it was completely unwarranted. you know, its just that, i feel as if im being unfairly looked down upon due to the fact that i am not as old and dont have as much experience. if i had not stated my age, i think that the whole experience question wouldnt have come into play
