Sign of the Times at Allen County Courthouse?

Clerk's office

This is a sign that Allen County Clerk of Courts Gina Staley-Burley posted in her office after an article on her absenteeism appeared in The Lima News. Former Clerk of Courts Anne Wenger née Geiger stopped by the office Monday, noticed the sign and corrected Staley-Burley's grammar and initialed her handiwork.

It is my understanding that Staley-Burley has had at least eight years of postsecondary education, including a law degree. It appears as though she put as much time into her studies as she does at the clerk's office.

I wish there were more expose' on this negligent office holder. That office needs someone who wants to work and can take an active role in the office, the county duties and organizations within the state that dictate mandate related to the title department.

I don't know which assessment of this situation is worse:

1. The initial grammar issue
2. The fact that they wouldn't take the time to correct it by priniting a new sign and posting it
3. Ot the fact that there is a sign there at all, let a lone thaat it is installed using blue duct tape.

No matter which of the three you pick, it it just makes you hang your head.
